Personally I'd pick Falcao over Cavani if I'm given a choice. That's personal taste more than anything else. But with Falcao now looking like he's heading off to Monaco, Cavani seems to be the best on offer. But is he really anyone's second choice?
Here's how the two guys stack up against each other:
Cavani (6'2" - Aged 26)
2010-11: Played 47 (all comps) scored 33 = Goal every 1.42 games.
2011-12: Played 48 (all comps) scored 33 = Goal every 1.45 games.
2012-13: Played 42 (all comps) scored 37 = Goal every 1.13 games.
Total Games (3 seasons) Played = 137
Total Goals (3 seasons) Scored = 103
= a goal every 1.33 games.
Falcao (5'10" - Age 27)
2010-11: Played 42 (all comps) scored 38 = Goal every 1.10 games.
2011-12: Played 52 (all comps) scored 36 = Goal every 1.44 games
2012-13: Played 38 (all comps) scored 33 = Goal every 1.15 games.
Total Games (3 seasons) Played = 132
Total Goals (3 seasons) Scored = 107
= a goal every 1.23 games.
So Falcao is marginally the more prolific striker. But Cavani is 4 inches taller and a year younger. Which means that if either of these players end up at Chelsea it will be a vast improvement on the players we currently have and should start banging in goals for fun!
Cheers!
